LSTI is committed to providing the best emergency education and training services possible. We offer both initial and continuing education by EMS professionals to both the public, and many of the largest health care provider organizations and municipal fire and public safety departments in Southeast Michigan.
Our organization was founded to meet the growing need for well-trained emergency medical service professionals. Today, we have a staff of full-time, experienced instructors that offer a proven training system to promote success.
The Life Support Training Institute leadership team has over 100 years of combined experience in healthcare and emergency medical services. Our diverse management group provides strategic direction and planning as well as daily operational oversight.
Parastar & Community EMS, Inc.
Greg Beauchemin is the “Founding Father” of Life Support Training Institute. In 1986, his vision was to develop a training agency for EMS and healthcare providers that would be an industry leader in top quality training and education. As a practicing Paramedic for many years, Mr. Beauchemin understood the unique challenges and needs that are faced by all EMS providers. His leadership skills and support for LSTI enables a strong foundation for enhanced educational services.
As President and CEO of Parastar and Community EMS, Inc. he is a 35+year veteran in the emergency medical service industry with professional experiences at all levels of emergency medical practice. Greg brings a wealth of local and national experience in emergency medical services, having conducted numerous studies for both public and private providers throughout the United States. In addition Greg has consulted on numerous medical and non-medical logistics issues for large healthcare systems globally.
Greg holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Emergency Medical Services from Madonna University and a Masters Degree in Emergency Health Services from the University of Maryland – Baltimore County (UMBC). Mr. Beauchemin serves as a member of the LSTI Advisory Committee.

Cathy is a Nurse Practitioner with over 30 years of clinical and health care management experience. Cathy has served as an executive with Community EMS and has successfully led “turn around” projects and has implemented key strategic solutions that have resulted in organization exceeding quality, financial and other performance goals. She has extensive experience with audits, compliance, coding, billing, quality, contracting and work flow evaluation and design. Cathy has developed and successfully implemented several quality based programs that have increased patient satisfaction, achieved quality measure compliance, decreased length of stay, reduced mortality and improved financial performance.
Cathy is an experienced health care consultant as well as a guest speaker at a national level. She holds degrees from U of M, MSU, CMU and Schoolcraft College.
Certifications include Family Nurse Practitioner, Medical Coding, LEAN, ALS and BLS.
Cathy received the Nurse Practitioner of the Year award from both the Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners and The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners in 2003. Cathy is past President of Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners and remains active as a reimbursement expert. Cathy continues to work clinically in the Emergency Department.
Beaumont Hospital Farmington Hills
Connie O’Malley serves as the executive leader of Life Support Training Institute. Connie’s vast knowledge of healthcare services over her 30+ year career provides great benefit to the current and future state of LSTI. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master’s of Health Service Administration degree. She has also been a fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives since 2012 and has led numerous nonprofit boards as well as heading both Oakland and Macomb County Medical Control Authorities as President. Connie also serves as a member of the LSTI Advisory Committee.
Life Support Training Institute
Dr. Diane Paratore, D.O. serves as the Medical Director for LSTI. She has served in this capacity since 2002 and is also an attending Emergency Department Physician at Beaumont Hospital Farmington Hills. Dr. Paratore also serves on the Advisory Committee of LSTI and is actively involved in on-going QA and QI initiatives at LSTI that supports our continued objective of top quality education and training services.
Dr. Paratore helps to coordinate a robust Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Beaumont Hospital Farmington Hills and is actively involved in our Physician Lecture Program for our Paramedic students. She is on the ACLS and PALS Program at LSTI and is a member of our AHA Faculty. Dr. Paratore offers expert leadership and support of our educational programs based on her Master’s Degree in Education as well as her years of EMS experience as a practicing ER Physician at a busy Level II Trauma Center.
