EMT-Specialist Training Course

This course is designed to prepare you to pass the NREMT AEMT exam (EMT-S in Michigan) and work as a competent entry-level EMT-S. In this course you will gain the knowledge and skills to properly assess and manage a variety of injuries and illnesses that will enhance skills obtained at the EMT-B level. You will learn enhanced patient assessment and triage techniques, telemetry, respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies, airway management, fluids and electrolytes, IV therapy, introduction to pharmacology and other integration methods into pre-hospital advanced life support.

This course is designed for individuals looking to begin their career in EMS as well as healthcare professionals looking to enhance their employment opportunities.  Successful completion of this course will offer participants job opportunities at Hospital Emergency Departments, Urgent Care Clinics, Municipal and Private EMS Agencies and other healthcare environments.

Course Length: 

134 Total Hours Per MDCH Guidelines  

Clinical Hours: 

50 Hours per MDCH Guidelines  

Prerequisites: 
    • Proof of successful completion of an EMT Course  
    • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR Certification  
    • Must have a current valid EMT License in Michigan by course completion to graduate
    • Must be at least 18 years old to apply for a license with MDCH after program completion  
    • Must be a high school graduate or have your GED
  • Must submit the following records within the first 30 days of class:

    • Negative TB test within 1 year
    • Proof of immunity to MMR & Varicella (Titers required)
    • Proof of immunity to HepB (Titers required) or signed HepB Declination
    • Other lab tests and proof of health insurance may be required based on clinical site
    • The cost for these lab tests will be in addition to regular tuition

Please note that tuition covers the cost of all academic student expenses including enrollment fee, text books, workbooks, lab fees, uniform fees as well as state-of-the-art computer adaptive testing platforms through Platinum Education, Inc. which will prepare all students to take the computer-based NREMT exam. We have NO HIDDEN FEES!
